The 2017 CrossFit Open is officially over. Once again we would like to congratulate everyone who took part. We had a total of 127 athletes sign up for the CrossFit Open, including lots of people competing for the first time.
As always, there were some notable performances which deserve a shoutout.
Eddy and Myriam were our most senior competitors in the 55-59 age group category. Not only that but they both put up very impressive performances throughout the 5 weeks.
Myriam finished in 2nd place in Switzerland, 92nd in Europe.
Eddy was not far behind with a 3rdn place finish in Switzerland and 81st in Europe.
Staying with the seniors, but moving to the 45-49 age group Asa finished in 6th place in Switzerland and 195th in Europe, a fantastic performance for her first ever CrossFit Open.
Following closely in the same category were Sabrina in 13th place and Isabelle in 20th.
In the women’s 50-54 category, Row and Kate tied in 6th place in Switzerland.
In fact, the “old guard” at CrossFit GVA were on great form throughout the 5 weeks. Of the top 10 finishers on the CrossFit GVA leaderboard, no less than four are 36 or older.
Benoit, Lars and Panos all represented in the newly created 35-39 age category. Benoit finished 12th in Switzerland, with Panos in 22nd and Lars in 24th places respectively.
In the 40-44 age category, Daniel finished in 6th place in Switzerland and 198th in Europe.
On the women’s side, we had three top 20 finishers in the 35-39 age category with Sam in 13th place, Anne-Katrin in 15th and Iwona in 20th.
At the opposite end of the scale, our youngest competitor was Michael in the 14-15 age category. He finished in 4th place in Switzerland and 62nd in Europe.
Last, but not least the CrossFit GVA competitors put up some great performances. Europe is one of the most competitive regions in the CrossFit world with over 40,000 participants in the male category and 20,000 in the females.
Leading the way again was Chris who dominated the leaderboard at CrossFit GVA with 1st place finishes in each workout. He finished in a very impressive 160th place overall in Europe.
Sophie remains top of the female leaderboard at CrossFit GVA with a 646th place finish in Europe.
Once again we would like to congratulate everyone who took part in the 2017 CrossFit Open. We have highlighted some notable performances, for 99% of us the CrossFit Open is about testing our own fitness, not competing with others. Whether you competed for the first time, managed to do some workouts RX for the first time or just improved your performances from last year then you can be proud of your achievements.
