What is it?
The Open is a five week/five workout online competition. It will be held at our gym and it is accessible to all the athletes who want to challenge themselves. There will be five workouts released every Thursday night, they will be released an RX and a scaled version so everyone can participate and have fun.
It starts on the 25th February.
How does it work?
You have to sign up on games.crossfit.com
It costs 20 dollars to sign up.
You will have to perform your workout at the gym with a judge during the dedicated time between the Friday and the Monday evening, and then you must enter you score online. Our staff will validate it on Monday evening.
You will find all the workout details (movement standards, weights, time cap) on games.crossfit.com. Be sure to read them and watch the videos.
Why do it ?
There are many reasons to do it : test yourself, challenge your friends, see if you have made progress since last year, see where you rank in Switzerland, Europe or Worldwide. But my favorite one is that it is the best way to challenge yourself, have fun and to spend some great moments with our whole community.
How to be at your best?
It’s a five week competition, which means that it will be long.
Keep taking your recovery seriously (eat and sleep well, rest enough). It is probably a good idea to rest the day before you’re planning to do the workout.
If you want to do it twice, an idea could be to give it a try on Friday by yourself or with some friends around you, try some strategies and see how you feel, rest on Saturday and give it another try on Sunday this time with a judge. Be careful with some movements where you can tear your hands for example as this will not let you do it again.
We will have a lot of athletes participating so keep in mind that you will have one attempt with the judge, to be sure that we can judge everyone.
We will provide you some good mobility and warm up ideas after every workout that’s released, so when D-day arrives, you will be in advance to have time to prepare yourself and to be ready at your heat time.
Should I really do this?
Trust yourself and trust all the hard work you’ve put together these past few months and year. You are as ready as ever and it’s time to use this fitness and to have fun all together ! You won’t regret it!
