This March will be the biggest Level Method implementation to date, but it's not a first! Last year, some of our members had already gone through the whole process, like Emma, whom we interviewed to find out what she thought.
How did you feel before you started Level Method?
Motivated! After 12 months of CrossFit, I thought it was the right time to do it, because I knew enough about all the movements. Although I could physically see my progress, I didn't have the tools to analyze and compare it. Doing the Level Method gave me reference points to help me progress through the different levels.
Did you have any expectations about how you were going to pass the tests?
I knew my strengths before taking the tests, but as always in Crossfit, you're only as good as your weaknesses. These Level Method tests push you to step out of your comfort zone, to challenge and surpass yourself (much more than in a normal class).
Are you happy with the results?
Super happy, even if you always want more! I think the table I drew up at the end, taking into account my different results, is correct and shows where my strengths and weaknesses lie. I really enjoyed the whole process. I'm looking forward to the next benchmark tests to see where I've improved.
What have you learned about your physical condition?
I've learned that I rely a lot on my strengths (fitness, endurance capacity and leg strength). I need to work more on my arms, shoulders, back and core to really get to the next level and use all the muscles in my body so I don't have to over-compensate for my weaknesses!
What are your post-Level Method training goals?
I still have the desire to do a full push-up and an unassisted pull-up. I've been working on it for a while and the results are there. So I'm really continuing to work on upper-body strength to get there.
What was the most difficult test or the one you wouldn't want to do again?
Given my upper-body weaknesses, I personally found the rings and pull-up/push-up tests very difficult. Conversely, the endurance tests were a good way for me to increase my overall score!
